SnagMyCar helps dentists buy a new car without stepping out of the operatory for a sales call or giving up a day off to a showroom. Tell us the exact car, and we get written, itemized out the door quotes from every franchised dealer in your radius that has it, run a second round, and send you a side by side list. The fee is $499.
Your day runs on the appointment book
A dental day is set by the schedule: hygiene checks, crown preps, an emergency squeezed in over lunch. Your gloves are on for most of it, so a ringing phone goes unanswered. Dealer sales processes were built for buyers who can talk in the moment. Fill in one online form and the callbacks start, usually mid-morning, when you are halfway through a procedure.
We replace that with email. You read quotes at lunch or after the last patient leaves. No dealer has a reason to call you, because the dealers work with us until you pick a winner. If your practice is closed one weekday, that is a good day to finish the paperwork or take delivery. Nothing else needs to happen in person.
Associates, new graduates and practice owners buy differently
New graduates and associates
Dental school often ends with a move, whether to a GPR or AEGD year, a specialty residency, an associate job or a group practice in a new city. You may need a car the week you start, in a market you do not know. Set the search radius around the new city, choose pickup or delivery there, and tell us your start date so dealers quote cars that can actually be ready in time.
With a large student loan balance and a new salary, you may find lenders vary widely in how they underwrite you. Get a pre-approval before quotes arrive rather than learning the answer at the dealer's finance desk.
Practice owners
Owners often ask whether to buy a car personally or through the practice. That is a question for your CPA, not for us and not for the dealer's finance manager. The answer depends on how the practice is organized, how the car will be used and where you are in your tax year. If your CPA says to buy in the practice's name, tell us at signup so the quotes and the buyer's order are written to the correct legal buyer. Owners buying a vehicle for the business should also read our page for business owners.
Specialists with more than one office
Orthodontists, oral surgeons and endodontists who rotate between satellite offices spend real time in the car. A car that serves as the link between locations has different must-haves than a weekend car: a comfortable seat, good phone integration, room for the bags and cases you carry between offices. Put those on your list when you start. Every quote must match your trim, colors and options, so you compare identical cars.
A time budget you can plan around
| When | What happens | Your time |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | You submit the car, colors, must-haves, radius, and pickup or delivery preference | One sitting |
| Days 1 to 2 | Round one: every dealer with a matching car sends a written out the door quote (about 36 hours) | None |
| Days 2 to 3 | Round two: the best number goes to the rest to beat (about 24 hours) | None |
| Days 3 to 4 | Final call with the top two (about 12 hours), then your side by side list | Read and pick |
| After you pick | The dealer sends a buyer's order and we check that it matches | Review, then sign with the dealer |
| Handover | You collect the car, or it is delivered to your home or office | One appointment |
The how it works page explains what happens inside each round.
Reading quotes like a fee schedule
Dentists know how one procedure can carry different fees depending on the plan. Car quotes have the same problem: the selling price is only one line. A store can offer a strong price and then add a doc fee, a protection package or a "market adjustment." We require every dealer to itemize, so those charges sit side by side across stores. Our guide to dealer add-ons covers the common ones and which you can decline.
We rank on the total to your driveway, which includes the estimated cost of pickup or delivery. Delivery to your home or practice can often be arranged with the dealer, and we compare that cost against driving to the store yourself. A store that wins on price but sits two hours away may lose once you count a closed day.
Financing without the finance office pressure
We do not arrange or sell loans, and lenders pay us nothing. Get a credit union or bank pre-approval and make the dealer beat it. Lenders commonly let dealers mark up a loan rate by about 2 to 2.5 percentage points, so a written outside rate keeps that in check.
The finance office is also where the second-biggest stress point sits. Cox Automotive found that after waiting time at the dealership, choosing finance and insurance products is what shoppers find most stressful. We sell none of those products, so nobody on our side has a reason to push a service contract or GAP coverage. If you want one, shop it separately and decide at home.
Specific builds and luxury brands
Some dentists want a particular build: one color, a performance package, a certain interior. If no dealer in your radius has it, we can run a factory order. Send the build from the brand's configurator, and dealers quote that exact build in writing, including the price relative to sticker, any market adjustment, deposit and refund terms, and expected allocation and delivery timing. We then handle the dealer through order and delivery.
For brands such as Bentley, McLaren, Lotus or Maserati, allocation and deposit terms often matter more than a discount. Our page on luxury and exotic cars explains how we compare those offers.
The fee, the guarantee and the limits
You pay $499 in total: $99 when you start and $400 only after the dealer's buyer's order matches the quote you chose. If you already have a written out the door quote and we do not beat it, the $99 is refunded and you pay nothing. The pricing page has the full breakdown.
We serve buyers in Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Delaware, Vermont, Wyoming and Idaho, because many other states regulate or ban car buying agents. We handle new cars only for now, and direct-sale brands such as Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and Polestar have no dealers to negotiate with.
Colleagues in medicine use the same process; see our pages for physicians and residents and nurses on shift schedules. When you have a gap in the book, start your search.
Questions
Should I buy the car personally or through my practice?
Ask your CPA. The answer depends on how your practice is organized, how the car will be used and your tax year, and we do not give tax advice. Once you decide, tell us the exact legal buyer when you start, so the quotes, the buyer's order and the title all name the right buyer.
Can a new dental graduate use SnagMyCar?
Yes, if you live in a state we serve. New graduates heading to a residency, a GPR or AEGD year, or an associate job can center the search on the new city and choose delivery there. Get a lender pre-approval first, since student loans and a new salary affect how lenders see you.
Will dealers call the office?
No. Dealers deal with us until you choose a winning quote, and we send you everything by email. The winning dealer needs your details to write the buyer's order and title the car, and you can ask it to keep contact to email as well. Nobody calls your front desk during the rounds.
Can you help with a specific build or a luxury brand?
Yes. Send your configurator build and dealers quote that exact build in writing, including any market adjustment, the deposit and its refund terms, and delivery timing. We handle luxury and exotic brands sold through US dealers, such as Bentley, McLaren, Lotus and Maserati, as well as mainstream brands.
What if I already have a quote from a local dealer?
Send it when you start. If we do not beat your best written out the door quote for the same car, your $99 deposit is refunded and you pay nothing. The comparison is total against total, so make sure the quote you send lists every fee, add-on, tax and registration charge.
