SnagMyCar lets business owners buy a new car, SUV or truck from franchised dealers without losing a workday or fielding sales calls. Tell us the exact vehicle and who the legal buyer is, and we get written, itemized out the door quotes from every dealer in your radius that has it, make them compete, and check the buyer's order. The fee is $499.
What a day at the dealership costs when you run the business
When you own the company, a day away is a day without the person who answers the hard questions. Cox Automotive's 2025 car buyer study found buyers spend just under 14 hours in total to buy a vehicle. For an owner, those hours come out of payroll day, a customer meeting or a crew waiting on materials.
Dealer callbacks make it worse, because they land in the middle of all that. Our process keeps dealers off your phone. They deal with us until you choose a quote, and everything reaches you in writing, so you can decide at night or on a Sunday without a salesperson in the loop.
Personal name or business name: settle it before you shop
The first question for a business owner is not which dealer. It is who is buying. You might buy personally and use the vehicle for work, buy in the name of your LLC or corporation, or finance through the company with a personal guarantee. Each path leads to different paperwork, and each can affect your taxes differently. Ask your CPA which one fits, and whether the timing of the purchase within your tax year matters for you. We do not give tax advice and we will not tell you what is deductible. The dealer's finance manager should not be your tax advisor either.
Once you have the answer, give us the exact legal name of the buyer when you start. The buyer's order, the title and the registration all need to agree, and when we check the buyer's order we confirm the buyer's name along with the price. Correcting a title issued in the wrong name after the sale is a slow fix you can avoid.
Spec the vehicle the way your work uses it
Requests vary widely by trade. A contractor may need a pickup with a particular cab, bed length, towing package and payload rating. A consultant may want a quiet sedan that works as a mobile office. A caterer or florist may need cargo room and a low load floor. Be precise about cab and bed configuration, drivetrain, towing equipment and anything else the job depends on, because every quote must match your list exactly. That is what makes the quotes comparable.
If you need equipment such as racks, shelving or a hitch, tell us at the start. Any dealer-installed equipment must appear as its own line on the quote, so you can compare it against buying the same work from an outside upfitter. If you believe your business qualifies for a manufacturer business or fleet incentive, say so when you start, and dealers will be asked to show it in writing.
Work trucks and factory orders
Trucks and vans with specific configurations are often not on any lot nearby. A factory order solves that. Send your build from the brand's configurator, and dealers quote that exact build in writing: the price relative to sticker, any market adjustment, the deposit and its refund terms, and allocation and delivery timing. Dealers compete on those terms the same way they do on an in-stock vehicle, and we handle the dealer through order and delivery.
Owners who want something more personal, such as a luxury or exotic car sold through a US dealer, get the same written process. Our page on luxury and exotic cars explains how allocation and deposits change the negotiation.
Doing it yourself versus using us
Plenty of owners negotiate their own vehicles, and some do it well. Here is a fair comparison of the two approaches.
| Item | On your own | With SnagMyCar |
|---|---|---|
| Fee | None | $499 total, $400 of it only on success |
| Dealers contacted | As many as you have time for | Every franchised dealer in your radius with a matching vehicle |
| Sales calls | Usually, once you share your number | None until you choose |
| Quote format | Whatever each dealer sends | Written, itemized out the door totals |
| Rounds of competition | Up to you | Two rounds plus a final call with the top two |
| Buyer's order check | You do it | We check it line by line before you sign |
If you enjoy the negotiation and have the hours, doing it yourself may be the better choice. Our comparison of a broker versus negotiating yourself goes deeper, and our guide on negotiating by email shows how to run the same play without us.
Financing through the business or personally
We do not arrange loans and take no money from lenders. Get a written pre-approval from your business bank or a credit union, and if you already have a banking relationship, start there. Business loans and personal auto loans are underwritten differently, so ask your banker which they would offer and get the terms in writing before quotes come in. Lenders commonly allow dealers to add about 2 to 2.5 percentage points of markup on a loan rate, so make the dealer beat your outside rate or skip dealer financing.
A timeline that runs while you work
Quotes take about three to four days: roughly 36 hours for round one, 24 hours for round two, and 12 hours for the final call. You do nothing during those rounds. You then pick from a side by side list, the winning dealer sends the buyer's order, and we confirm it matches before you sign. The how it works page explains each step.
Delivery to your shop, office or home can often be arranged with the dealer. Every quote shows an estimated pickup or delivery cost, and we rank by the total to your driveway. If sending an employee to collect the vehicle is an option, ask the dealer what authorization it needs; the signature on the buyer's order still belongs to the legal buyer.
Fee, guarantee and limits
You pay $499 in total: $99 at signup and $400 after the dealer's buyer's order matches your chosen quote. If you already hold a written out the door quote and we do not beat it, the $99 is refunded and you pay nothing. See the pricing page for the full breakdown. Whether the fee itself is a business expense is, again, a question for your CPA.
We serve buyers in Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Delaware, Vermont, Wyoming and Idaho, because many states regulate or ban car buying agents. We handle new vehicles only for now, and direct-sale brands such as Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and Polestar have no dealers to negotiate with.
Owners in specific fields can also read our pages for real estate agents, dentists with a practice and executives. When you know who the buyer is and what you need, start your search.
Questions
Can I write off the car if I buy it through SnagMyCar?
We cannot answer that, and the dealer should not either. Whether and how a vehicle purchase affects your taxes depends on your business, how the vehicle is used and your tax year. Ask your CPA before you buy. Our job is the price, the written quotes and the buyer's order check.
Can the buyer be my LLC or corporation?
Yes, if that is what you and your CPA decide. Give us the exact legal name of the buyer when you start. Quotes and the buyer's order are written to that buyer, and when we check the buyer's order we confirm the name as well as the price, so the title is issued correctly.
Can you get quotes on a work truck with a specific configuration?
Yes. List the cab, bed length, drivetrain, towing package and other must-haves, and every quote has to match. If no dealer in your radius has it in stock, send a configurator build and we run a factory order, with written terms on price, deposit, refunds and delivery timing.
Do you arrange business vehicle financing?
No. We do not arrange loans or take money from lenders. Get a written offer from your business bank or a credit union before quotes arrive, and ask whether it would be a business loan or a personal auto loan. Then make the dealer beat that rate or use your own lender.
Can the vehicle be delivered to my shop or job site?
Delivery can often be arranged with the dealer. Each quote shows an estimated pickup or delivery cost, and we rank by the total to your driveway. If an employee will collect the vehicle instead, ask the dealer what authorization it needs; the legal buyer still signs the buyer's order.
