A car buying service for real estate agents

Real estate agents can replace their work car without giving up a weekend of showings to sit in a dealership. SnagMyCar collects written, itemized out the door quotes from franchised dealers by email, makes them bid against each other, and checks the dealer's paperwork before you sign. Dealers never call you, so your phone stays free for clients.

Your car is a work tool, so treat the purchase like a business decision

For most buyers a car is transportation. For an agent it is closer to an office. You drive clients to showings, carry signs and lockboxes, wait in it between appointments, and park it in front of listings where sellers see it. A car that is too small, worn out or unreliable costs you in ways that never show up on a sticker.

That makes it worth being exact about what you buy. Before you start your search, write down the needs that come from the job, not just the ones that come from taste:

  • The back seat. If you drive buyers to showings, they ride in the back. Rear legroom, rear climate vents and easy entry matter more than they would in a personal car.
  • Cargo. Yard signs, riders, open house flags and a stack of brochures need a home that is not the passenger seat.
  • Mileage. Agents rack up miles. Fuel economy, a hybrid powertrain, or an electric vehicle with home charging can all make sense, depending on how far apart your listings are.
  • Image. Your market sets the bar. A clean, current vehicle in a neutral color is a safe choice almost anywhere. In some luxury markets, clients expect a premium brand.

The timing problem with weekends

Dealerships are busiest when you are: weekends and evenings. Your open houses and showings cluster in the same hours. Taking a Saturday to shop for a car means turning away clients, and on a weekday you are writing offers, chasing inspections and answering lenders.

Our process asks almost none of that time. You fill out one form with the exact car. Over the next 3 to 4 days we run three rounds by email: about 36 hours for written quotes from every matching dealer in your radius, about 24 hours for those dealers to beat the best number, and about 12 hours for a final call to the top two. You check the quote table when you have a gap between appointments and pick one. The full detail is on our how it works page.

No sales calls on the phone you run your business from

Your cell number is your business line. When you shop for a car the usual way, every dealer you contact gets that number, and the follow-up calls and texts compete with calls from buyers and sellers. Missing a client call because you picked up a car salesperson's third follow-up is a bad trade.

With us, dealers deal with us until you choose one. They get the request, the competing numbers and the deadlines from us by email. You hear from a dealer directly only after you pick it, and only to finish the paperwork.

Comparing quotes the way you compare offers

You already know that the headline number on an offer is not the whole story. Concessions, contingencies and closing dates change what a deal is worth. Car quotes work the same way. A dealer can show an attractive selling price and then add a protection package, a market adjustment and a high doc fee further down the page.

That is why we compare out the door totals, itemized line by line. Every quote you see shows the selling price relative to sticker, each add-on and fee on its own line, taxes and government fees, and the total you would pay. Alongside it you see the estimated cost of pickup or delivery, so a dealer two counties away is compared fairly with one down the street. Our guide to dealer add-ons explains which lines to question.

Once you pick a quote, the dealer sends a buyer's order. We check it against the number you picked before you sign. Think of it as a final walkthrough: you confirm the deal on paper matches the deal you agreed to.

Pickup or delivery to your office

If you would rather not visit a dealer at all, delivery to your home or brokerage can be arranged with the dealer. We compare the cost of pickup and delivery up front so you see a total to your driveway. If you pick up, you go once, to sign and drive away. Schedule it for a weekday morning, the quietest part of most agents' week.

Leasing, used cars and the business side

A few honest limits. We handle new cars only right now, purchased outright or financed. Many agents lease, and we do not offer leasing at launch. It may come later, but we are not promising a date. We also do not handle used cars yet.

How you treat a vehicle on your taxes, and whether you buy it personally or through an entity, are questions for your tax professional. We do not give tax or legal advice. What we can give you is a clean, itemized buyer's order, which is the kind of document your accountant will want to see.

We do not arrange loans or take money from lenders. Get a pre-approval from your bank or credit union first and make the dealer beat that rate. You know from your own work how much a pre-approval changes a negotiation.

Premium, luxury and custom builds

If your market calls for a luxury vehicle, we work with luxury and exotic brands sold through US dealers. If the exact build you want is not on any lot, we handle factory orders: you send your configurator build code or summary, and we get written quotes on that build from the brand's dealers in your radius, including the price relative to sticker, any market adjustment, deposit terms and estimated delivery timing.

We cannot help with direct-sale brands such as Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and Polestar, because there are no competing dealers to bid against each other.

What it costs and where we work

Our fee is a flat $499. You pay a $99 deposit at signup and the remaining $400 only after the dealer's buyer's order matches the price you picked. If we don't beat the best written out the door quote you already have, your $99 is refunded and you pay nothing. The fee does not change with the price of the car. Details are on the pricing page.

We serve buyers in Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Delaware, Vermont, Wyoming and Idaho. If you sell homes elsewhere, we cannot help yet, because many states regulate or ban car buying agents. Local details are on pages such as the Tennessee buyer's guide and the Massachusetts buyer's guide.

Agents are not the only people whose car doubles as an office. See how the process fits business owners and executives, or skip ahead and start your search between showings.

Questions

How much of my time does this take?

Very little. You fill out one form with the exact car and how you want it delivered. Our three email rounds take about 3 to 4 days and need nothing from you. Then you review the quotes between appointments and pick one. You visit the dealer once to sign, or not at all if the dealer delivers to your home or office.

Can I lease my next car through you?

Not yet. We handle new cars bought outright or financed. Leasing may come later, but we are not promising a date. If you plan to lease, we are not the right fit today. If you are open to buying, we can get you written, itemized out the door quotes from every matching dealer in your radius.

Can you tell me how to write off the car?

No. How you treat a vehicle on your taxes, and whether to buy it personally or through a business, are questions for your tax professional. We do not give tax or legal advice. What we provide is a clean, itemized buyer's order that has been checked against the price you picked, which is the kind of document your accountant will ask for.

Will dealers call my business line?

No. Dealers deal with us by email until you choose one, and they do not get your number during the bidding. That keeps your phone free for buyers and sellers. You hear from a dealer directly only after you pick its quote, and only to finish the paperwork.

Can you get quotes on a luxury vehicle?

Yes. We work with luxury and exotic brands sold through US dealers. If the exact build is not in stock, we can run a factory order on your configurator build code and get written quotes covering the price relative to sticker, any market adjustment, deposit terms and estimated delivery. Direct-sale brands such as Tesla are outside what we can do.
